Andretti Green Racing Gains Freedom and Function with the FARO Laser ScanArm®

Having the FARO Laser ScanArm® in-house saves Andretti Green Racing time and money.

Andretti Green Racing has more wins than any team in IndyCar Series history. Founded in 2003, AGR (andrettigreenracing.com) has won the Indianapolis 500 twice and they have three IndyCar Series championships through 2007. They also have an unprecedented 34 overall wins in the Series – a record they add to with every trip to victory lane.

The Problem:
In their continuing goal of excellence, AGR reverse engineers full-size race car parts to improve the accuracy of the team’s wind tunnel models. They use this information as a starting point for design modifications.

AGR hired an outside service company to scan surfaces for them, but it was difficult to use the data provided. The biggest problem was the time it took to have data delivered. AGR needed the information faster and they needed greater flexibility and freedom.
