igus® has developed innovative polymer materials to manufacture products that provide maintenance-free solutions and exceed customers’ expectations while delivering fast, accurate service.

Günter Blase began igus AG in 1964 within a double garage in Cologne, Germany. For the first twenty years, the company worked as a supplier of complex technical polymer components. However, in 1983, Frank Blase established reinforced plastic energy chain systems and injection-molded polymer bearings as two distinct product groups and set up a network of sales engineers. These seemingly unrelated products are linked together through the belief in making functionally advanced, yet affordable polymer components and assemblies.

Between 1985 and 2022, igus has grown from just forty employees to more than four thousand between its head office in Germany and thirty-five subsidiary companies around the world. igus also has representative partners in more than 35 other countries. The company said it will continue to invest in expansion throughout the coming years thanks to the opportunities for growth provided by modern materials.

Engineer’s Guide to Efficient Changeovers
Changeovers are key to any successful packaging operation. Inefficient changeovers slow down the entire production line, and waste both time and money. But there's no single way to go about making changeovers more efficient; it requires a multifaceted approach that analyzes everything from processes and maintenance schedules to...

The igusGO app is an AI-powered app that allows machine operators to find opportunities to implement igus products in their applications. Users simply need to take a photo of the application, and AI will analyze and determine which igus parts

igus is adding an electrostatically dissipative variant to its almost particle-free e-skin flat cable carrier series.

Test passed with the best possible result: E6.29 from igus receives innovative dry cleanroom certificate from Fraunhofer IPA for ISO Class 4.

The manufacturing industry is poised to leap forward with the advent of extended reality technologies and the integration of the IIoT. Both offer the potential to increase efficiency, improve employee training, and better track materials.

igumid P190 can be used for multi-material printing as well as highly stable structural components.

The new iglide i6-BLUE laser sintering powder is highly abrasion-resistant, self-lubricating, and food-safe according to FDA and EU 10/2011 regulations.

igus®, has introduced the i.Sense EC.B – a smart condition monitoring system for breakage detection on e-chain® cable carriers over 35 meters. In the case of a break, the i.Sense EC.B system will immediately trigger a signal making

Additive manufacturing refers to a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component in layers by depositing material. It is becoming more widely used, and has many advantages. Paul Gomer, an additive manufacturing development

Company releases 3D printing resin for wear parts and gears.

igus has developed a sensor for its smart plastics software that calculates the remaining service life of energy chains, cables, linear guides and plain bearings during operation.

One of the picks will be chosen as DE’s Editor’s Pick of the Week.

With iglide® I8-ESD, igus is launching an SLS material that enables the additive manufacturing of prototypes, series parts and spare parts with ESD properties. In addition to cable carriers, bearings and semi-finished products with antistatic properties, customers can now

Machines are expensive and so is maintaining them. This particularly applies to special machines and older models, where the procurement of spare parts is often difficult and usually cost-intensive.

igus develops plastics components and offers 3D printing services.

Aided by igus motion plastics, German students claim sixth place at World Solar Challenge in Australia.
